The SY600 and SY-1000 are rugged, lightweight portable field tension meters which measure line tensions - without breaking into the line.
Operation is based on measuring cable deflection caused by the application of a constant force mid-way between two pulley supports. Cable tensions are then determined to an accuracy of ± 1% by referring to a calibration chart especially prepared for the cable size and type being measured.
*Actual tension range depends on the type of material being tested. Values shown are for average mild steel wire rope. Select model by cable diameter.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE SY TENSION METER IS NOT CALIBRATED
The SY has an analog dial with a scale of 0-100 points and comes with an instruction manual on how to create a calibration table. This table can be used to determine the tension on your specific cable(s). You require a dynamometer or weights and samples of your cables to create such a table.
Alternatively we can create conversion tables for your specific cables. In that case we require a sample of each cable you would like to measure. You can order the SY-CHART option for each cable that needs to be calibrated. If you are looking for a pre-calibrated cable tension meter that displays actual tension directly, please consider models CTM and RTM-20D.
